Get into Greenery

4 trendy indoor plants to style your home.

As we move through 2018, greenery has become an Interior décor staple. For people who prefer a neutral décor, a pop of leafy green on the wall or placed in a bland corner is the perfect antidote, and a cost effective one too! Leafy indoor plants or succulents have become an important item on interior decorators and home owners lists, it adds a pop of colour that may have been missing and not to mention it brightens and freshens the home. Are you thinking at this point – I know nothing of indoor plants – which one would I pick? Well we are here to help. Featured below are 4 of our favourite low maintenance indoor plants.

Fiddle Leaf Fig

The Fiddle Leaf Fig is first choice for anyone wanting to introduce greenery into their home, it looks great and is very easy to maintain. If you’re looking to purchase one of these beautiful plants, they will perfectly style that boring corner you have been stuck on for a while. As long as filtered sunlight reaches your new leafy green, it will look amazing and fresh. Pop your FLF in a feature pot and off you go, just don’t forget to top it up with water when the top soil feels a little dry.

Hot Tip:
Plant your Fiddle Leaf Fig in a small to large pot depending on the size you want it to grow. This plant will liven up a dull corner or look great positioned on the bathroom vanity or laundry bench top.

Mother-in-Law’s Tongue

Mother-in-Law’s Tongue has become more and more popular in recent years, it can be grown all year round and requires little maintenance. This hardy plant is an ideal feature to add to your interior for a contemporary structure. Mother-in-Law’s Tongue is great not just for its looks, but for its practicality as it helps to improve air quality in your home. It is said that the plant’s sharp spike represents the sharp tongue of a mother-in-law. So… if you’ve thinking of gifting one of these plants to your partner’s lovely mum, make sure to mention that you’re not trying to say anything bad.

Hot Tip:
Make a bold statement and plant in a unique medium to large sized pot. This plant will look great in an entryway or a spare corner, however please note that the plant may be toxic to pets if ingested.

Rubber Tree

The Rubber Tree is perfect for introducing some deep green tones into your home. With its large dark green leaves, this floor plant will grow smoothly in a small or large pot depending on how big you want the plant to grow. To create a beautiful affect, you could place your new plant in a woven basket. Grow your Rubber Tree in a well-lit area of your home, with some indirect sun if possible. This easy-care variety has recently started dominating as one of the most popular house plants. Watch out Fiddle Leaf Fig, the Rubber Tree is coming for you!

Hot Tip:
To create a stylish look in your home, place your newly potted plant on a pot stand to bring it up off the floor. You could also cluster it together with your other indoor plants.

String of Pearls

This wonderful plant is incredibly easy to care for and is so on trend! String of Pearls is a great way to introduce hanging pots into your home. Just find a bright spot out of direct sunlight and water your plant when the potting mix is dry.

Does your bathroom need a pop of greenery to freshen the atmosphere? Why not hang a snazzy pot of String of Pearls from the roof or sit on top of your shower wall? The opportunities are endless as to where this interesting plant can sit, purchase one and just have some fun!

Hot Tip:
String of Pearls always looks great hanging from the ceiling. To add texture, hang your plant from a rope! This will look great in the laundry, bathroom or study area.
